From the UK you can fly direct to three Turkish airports on the Aegean and Mediterranean coast, Dalaman, Bodrum and İzmir, and to the Greek islands of Rhodes, Kos, Samos and Lesvos. Rhodes and Dalaman have the widest choice of UK departure airports. Chios is the hard one: we found no UK nonstop route for it, so most people reach it via Athens or by ferry from Çeşme.

This page lists only what airline and airport pages showed when we checked them in October 2026. Where we could not confirm a route, we say so.

Short answer

  • Most choice from the UK: Rhodes and Dalaman. easyJet’s route pages list eight UK airports for Rhodes and eleven for Dalaman, and Jet2 and SunExpress also serve Dalaman.
  • Flight time: easyJet lists 4 h 05 min (London Gatwick) to 4 h 50 min (Belfast) for Rhodes. British Airways puts London–Dalaman at about four hours.
  • Smaller islands: Jet2 added Samos for summer 2026 from Manchester, Birmingham and London Stansted. Jet2 lists Lesvos, but we could not confirm which UK airports. We found no UK nonstop to Chios.
  • Winter: every UK route to the Greek islands we found is a summer route. Jet2’s Samos season ends in late October 2026. Out of season, fly to Athens and connect, or fly into Turkey and take a ferry.
  • Flight plus ferry: for Kos, Rhodes, Samos, Chios and Lesvos, a flight into Bodrum, Dalaman or İzmir followed by a short ferry is a real alternative, especially for twin-centre trips.
  • Kaş: Dalaman is the usual airport. Antalya (AYT) is a little further but often has more flights.

How we checked

The airport websites mostly show live boards, not route lists. So the tables come from airline route pages and press releases, plus the airline lists that Dalaman Airport and Fraport Greece (Rhodes, Kos, Samos, Lesvos) publish. An airline on an airport’s list may not fly from the UK, and a route listed in October 2026 may not run every month. Check the schedule for your dates.

Turkey: Dalaman (DLM)

Dalaman is the airport for Fethiye, Göcek, Marmaris and Kaş. Dalaman Airport’s own list of airlines with regular flights names AJet, British Airways, Finnair, Pegasus, Ryanair and Turkish Airlines. Holiday airlines such as Jet2, easyJet and SunExpress are not on that list, but their own pages and releases show Dalaman routes.

Turkey: Bodrum (BJV)

Milas-Bodrum airport serves the Bodrum peninsula, the starting point for the Bodrum to Kos ferry. We could not open an official route list for the airport, so this table relies on airline pages.

Airline UK airports Season / notes Source
easyJet Bristol, Edinburgh, Liverpool, London Gatwick, London Luton, Manchester Route list checked Oct 2026; easyJet calls June to September peak season easyJet route page
SunExpress Manchester Twice weekly in summer 2026; Bodrum is not in SunExpress’s summer 2027 UK list SunExpress releases
Jet2 Not verified Jet2 named Bodrum as one of its four Turkish destinations in 2024 Jet2 release, May 2024

Getting from the airport into town is covered on our Bodrum Airport transfers page.

Turkey: İzmir (ADB)

İzmir’s airport is the gateway for Çeşme (ferries to Chios), Kuşadası (ferries to Samos and the base for Ephesus) and, further north, Ayvalık and Dikili for Lesvos. The airport’s English destination page did not load for us, so again the table uses airline sources.

Greece: Rhodes (RHO)

Rhodes has the most UK flights of the islands on this page. Fraport Greece’s Rhodes airport page lists British Airways, easyJet, Jet2.com, Ryanair UK and TUI Airways among its airlines. Its flight data covered the period up to 24 October 2026, the end of the summer timetable.

easyJet Belfast International, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, London Gatwick, London Luton, Manchester, Newcastle 4 h 05 min from Gatwick, 4 h 15 min from Luton and Bristol, 4 h 20 min from Manchester, 4 h 40 min from Edinburgh, 4 h 50 min from Belfast easyJet route page

Greece: Kos (KGS)

Kos airport’s airline list on the Fraport Greece site includes British Airways, easyJet, Jet2.com, Ryanair UK, TUI Airways and Wizz Air.

Airline UK airports Season / notes Source
easyJet Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Liverpool, London Gatwick, Manchester Route list checked Oct 2026 easyJet route page
Jet2 Leeds Bradford (extra Saturday flights 4 July to 26 September 2026) Other Jet2 bases not verified Jet2 release, Feb 2026
British Airways, Ryanair UK, TUI Airways, Wizz Air Not verified On the airport’s airline list Kos Airport

Kos is only 20–45 minutes by boat from Bodrum, so flying into either and crossing is easy.

Greece: Samos (SMI)

Samos became a Jet2 destination in summer 2026. Jet2 published the full season when the first flight left Manchester on 1 May 2026. The airport’s airline list also includes TUI Airways, but we did not find TUI’s UK departure airports.

Airline UK airport Days Season 2026 Source
Jet2 Manchester Tuesday, Friday 1 May to 30 October Jet2 release, May 2026
Jet2 Birmingham Monday 4 May to 26 October Jet2 release, May 2026
Jet2 London Stansted Monday, Thursday 7 May to 29 October Jet2 release, May 2026

Samos is also reachable by ferry from Kuşadası. See Kuşadası to Samos ferry.

Greece: Lesvos (MJT)

Jet2 lists Lesvos (Mytilene) in its summer 2026 Greece programme, and Jet2.com is on the airport’s airline list, alongside Aegean Airlines, Olympic Air and Sky Express. We could not confirm which UK airports Jet2 flies from, so treat Lesvos as a route to check in Jet2’s booking search. The alternative is İzmir plus the ferry from Ayvalık or Dikili.

Greece: Chios (JKH)

We found no UK nonstop to Chios in any airline source we checked, and the Chios airport website blocked our access, so we could not see its airline list. Realistic options are a flight to Athens with a domestic connection, or a flight to İzmir and the short ferry from Çeşme. See Çeşme to Chios ferry.

Winter: which islands lose direct flights

Every UK route to the Greek islands that we could date is a summer route: Jet2’s Samos flights end between 26 and 30 October 2026, its extra Kos flights from Leeds Bradford end on 26 September, and Rhodes airport’s published data ran only to 24 October 2026. We found no UK winter nonstop to Samos, Lesvos or Chios, and none dated for Rhodes or Kos either. If you travel between November and March, plan on a connection.

Turkey keeps more winter flying. easyJet’s Dalaman page showed a December fare from Manchester when we checked, but we could not see a full winter timetable, so check your dates.

Ferries also run less often in winter. Our ferry season calendar shows which crossings keep sailing.

Connecting via Istanbul or Athens

  • Via Istanbul: Dalaman’s list of regular airlines includes Turkish Airlines, AJet and Pegasus. If no direct flight suits, check their booking searches for a connection through Istanbul.
  • Via Athens: the airline lists for Lesvos and Samos include the Greek airlines Olympic Air and Sky Express, and Lesvos also lists Aegean Airlines. Check their schedules for connections through Athens, particularly outside the summer season.
  • Self-connecting: if you book two separate tickets, a delay on the first flight is your problem. Leave a generous gap.

Fly direct to the island or fly to Turkey and take the ferry

Direct flight to the island Flight to Turkey plus ferry
Best for A stay on one island only Twin-centre trips, or when island flights are full or expensive
Choice of UK airports Wide for Rhodes and Kos, narrow for Samos and Lesvos, none found for Chios Wide for Dalaman, good for Bodrum and İzmir
Extra time None Airport transfer plus a crossing of about 20 minutes to under two hours
Paperwork One Schengen entry Turkish entry, then Turkish exit and Schengen entry at the port
Winter Connections via Athens Fewer ferries; check the calendar

Useful pairings: Bodrum and Kos, Dalaman and Rhodes via Marmaris or Fethiye, İzmir and Chios via Çeşme, İzmir and Samos via Kuşadası. The ferry map shows all crossings, and which Greek island helps you choose one.

Kaş and Kastellorizo: Dalaman or Antalya

For Kaş, our transfer page puts Dalaman Airport about 150–180 km away and Antalya Airport (AYT) about 185–200 km away. Antalya often has more flights. There is no airport bus from Dalaman to Kaş, so budget for a transfer, a hire car or a change of bus in Fethiye. Boats to Kastellorizo leave from Kaş harbour; see Kaş to Kastellorizo ferry.

Passports and entry

British visitors do not need a visa for Turkey for up to 90 days in any 180, and GOV.UK says the passport must be valid for at least 150 days from arrival. For Greece, GOV.UK says the passport must be less than 10 years old on arrival and valid for at least three months after you plan to leave the Schengen area.

The EU Entry/Exit System (EES) has been fully operational since 10 April 2026 and records non-EU travellers, including UK citizens, at Schengen external borders. GOV.UK adds that Greek authorities have indicated they will not collect fingerprints and photos from UK travellers. ETIAS is not yet running; a Polish government page from 30 September 2026 says it is scheduled for 2027. Our day trips to Turkey hub covers this in detail.
