Milas-Bodrum Airport (BJV) sits inland, about 36 km from Bodrum town, so every arrival starts with a drive of roughly 45 minutes to an hour. The cheapest way to the peninsula is an airport bus to Bodrum followed by a numbered minibus (dolmuş) to your resort; the simplest is a taxi or a pre-booked transfer straight to your door. If you are heading on to Kos, plan the ferry for the next day unless you land early.
Short answer
- Distance: TAV Airports, which runs both terminals, puts the airport 36 km from Bodrum city centre. Guides give about 45 minutes by road; a private transfer listing allows 50 minutes to an hour.
- Airport buses: Havaş and the municipal company Muttaş both run to Bodrum. Muttaş line 48-24 stops at Güvercinlik and the Torba bus station before the town centre.
- To the resorts: From the centre, Muttaş-numbered minibuses run to Gümbet, Bitez, Turgutreis, Yalıkavak, Gümüşlük and other villages until around midnight (timetables as of October 2026).
- Taxi and transfers: Taxis wait outside arrivals. No officially published fare could be confirmed, so ask for an estimate before you set off. Private transfers can be booked in advance.
- Kos ferry: Boats leave from Bodrum town (Cruise Port or the Castle Port, depending on the operator) and from Turgutreis D-Marin. Neither is served directly by the airport buses.
- Late arrival: After about midnight, a taxi or pre-booked transfer is the dependable choice.

The airport and the drive
Milas-Bodrum Airport lies north-east of Bodrum, much closer to Milas than to the peninsula. TAV Airports’ airport brochure describes two terminals, domestic and international, both operated by TAV since 2014 and 2015, and gives the distance to Bodrum city centre as 36 km. Other guides quote between 33 and 37 km depending on where in town they measure to.
For driving time, the Turkish Airlines Bodrum city guide and Turkey Travel Planner both say about 45 minutes. A private transfer on GetYourGuide lists 50 minutes to an hour to central Bodrum and notes that traffic decides the exact time. The resorts at the western end of the peninsula, such as Turgutreis and Gümüşlük, are further on, so allow extra time for those.
For an overview of the town itself, see our Bodrum travel guide.
Havaş airport bus
Havaş, which is also TAV’s ground-handling company at the airport, runs airport buses at many Turkish airports. On havas.net, Bodrum city centre is listed as one of its bus service points.
What the official site says, as of October 2026:
- Bus times at all its service points are planned around flight times, and passengers should pick the departure that matches their flight.
- Times can change or services can be cancelled because of weather or flight cancellations.
- The Didim to Milas-Bodrum Airport shuttle was discontinued from 7 August 2026. If you are staying in Didim, you need another option.
- For current times, Havaş refers passengers to its customer service line, 0850 222 0 487.
What we could not confirm from havas.net: the exact stops, the fare and how long after landing the bus leaves. The route search on the site did not show Bodrum details when we checked. Third-party guides agree that the bus goes to Bodrum via Güvercinlik, but they disagree on whether it ends at the old central bus garage or the new bus station at Torba. They also quote different fares. One independent guide says buses leave the airport 30 to 45 minutes after a flight lands, but this is not stated by Havaş. Ask at the Havaş desk or the driver where the bus will stop before you board.

Muttaş line 48-24
Muttaş is the transport company of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, and its timetable site is the most detailed official source for buses around Bodrum. Line 48-24 Bodrum Şehir Merkezi – Milas/Bodrum Havalimanı links the airport with Bodrum town. As of October 2026, the line page says:
- The route is 40 km long. From the airport, buses stop at Güvercinlik (in front of Jet Migros) and at Bodrum Torba Otogar, then continue to the town centre.
- Buses meet arriving domestic flights. Buses leaving the domestic arrivals area call at the international terminal before heading off.
- In the other direction, buses leave Bodrum town 2 hours before domestic flight departures.
- There are no reservations or advance tickets, and credit cards are accepted on board. Extra vehicles are added if a bus is full.
- Times can change because of weather, traffic or flight changes. The page was last updated in May 2025.
Muttaş publishes its fares as PDF tariffs on its website. We could not read the airport fare from them, so check the tariff page or call Muttaş on 444 48 01.
Onward by dolmuş to Gümbet, Bitez, Turgutreis and Yalıkavak
Neither airport bus goes to the resorts. You change in Bodrum. The peninsula minibuses run on numbered Muttaş lines, and most of the lines below start at Bodrum Merkez Garaj, the central minibus station in town. Some trips on the Turgutreis and Yalıkavak lines start or end at Torba Otogar instead; these are marked in the timetables.
Timetables as of October 2026, from the Muttaş line pages:
| Line | Route | From Bodrum (daily) | Frequency |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2-52 | Bodrum – Gümbet | 06:45 to around midnight (earlier finish on Sundays) | about every 7–10 min in the daytime |
| 2-48 | Bodrum – Bitez | 07:30 (07:35 weekends) to 00:30 | about every 15–25 min |
| 2-34 | Bodrum – Turgutreis | 07:05 to 00:10 | every 10–40 min |
| 2-41 | Bodrum – Yalıkavak | 07:05 weekdays, 07:30 weekends, to 23:30 | mostly every 30 min |
Muttaş also lists lines from Bodrum to Gümüşlük (2-45), Ortakent-Yahşi (2-28 and 2-29), Göltürkbükü (2-46) and Gündoğan (2-47). Credit cards are accepted on all Muttaş vehicles; fares are in the same PDF tariffs mentioned above.
If the airport bus drops you at Torba Otogar: line 2-81 links the bus station with Bodrum Merkez Garaj, 5 km away. As of October 2026 it runs every 30 minutes in the daytime and hourly through the night.
With luggage and two changes, this is the slowest way to reach the west of the peninsula. It works well for light travellers heading to Gümbet or Bitez, which are close to town. For Turgutreis or Yalıkavak with children or big cases, a taxi or transfer saves a lot of hassle.

Taxi
Taxis wait outside the arrivals exit. The Pegasus airport page says the taxi association publishes a fare tariff, but we could not find an officially published airport-to-Bodrum fare valid in October 2026. Older figures circulating online are years out of date. Independent airport guides say taxis use the meter; ask the driver for an estimate to your hotel before you set off, and have the full address ready.
Private and shared transfers
A pre-booked transfer means a driver waits for you in arrivals with a name sign and takes you straight to your hotel, wherever it is on the peninsula. This is the most practical option for families, late arrivals and anyone going to Turgutreis, Gümüşlük or Yalıkavak. It is also worth asking your hotel whether it can arrange a pickup.
Shared shuttles, which combine passengers from several flights and drop them at different hotels, take longer than a private car. Whichever you choose, compare what is included (child seats, waiting time if your flight is late) before you book.
Bodrum Airport( BJV):Private Transfer from Bodrum Airport
Private one-way transfer from BJV to central Bodrum with meet and greet at the exit; the listing includes water, Wi-Fi and a baby seat.
Check price & availabilityThe listing above covers Bodrum city centre. If you are staying further west, check that your destination is included before you pay.
Car hire
According to the Pegasus airport page, car hire offices are located at the airport. A car makes sense if you are staying in Yalıkavak, Göltürkbükü or a quiet bay and want to explore. It is less useful if you are staying in Bodrum town: parking in the centre is difficult in summer, and the Kos ferry from Bodrum and Turgutreis carries foot passengers only, so the car stays behind. Our Bodrum travel guide has notes on parking near the port.
Comparing the options

| Bus + dolmuş | Gümbet, Bitez, Turgutreis, Yalıkavak and more | Minibuses until around midnight | Not required | Cheapest door-to-resort |
| Taxi | Anywhere | Any time | Not required | Speed, late arrivals |

To the Kos ferry
From Bodrum town, Kos boats leave either from Bodrum Cruise Port or from the smaller Castle Port beside Bodrum Castle; operators differ, so check your ticket. Neither airport bus goes to the harbour. From the centre, walk or take a short taxi ride; from the airport, a taxi or transfer can drop you at the port.
From the west of the peninsula, some sailings use the D-Marin marina at Turgutreis. Ferryhopper says the marina is about a 5-minute drive from Turgutreis centre, with dolmuş services and a taxi rank. Line 2-34 from Bodrum ends at Turgutreis Garaj.
Allow at least an hour at the port for check-in and passport control. Landing and catching a ferry on the same day is possible with an early flight, but a delayed flight or summer traffic can cost you the boat. A night in Bodrum or Turgutreis first is the safer plan. Operators, timetables and fares are in our Bodrum to Kos ferry guide, and if you only want a day on the island, see Kos day trip from Bodrum.
Late-night arrivals
If your flight lands late in the evening, plan the onward journey before you fly. Muttaş line 48-24 meets arriving domestic flights, and Havaş plans its buses around flights, but neither publishes a fixed last departure from the airport. If you land after about 23:00, keep in mind that the peninsula minibuses stop around midnight (the Turgutreis line’s last departure from Bodrum is 00:10, Yalıkavak’s 23:30, as of October 2026). Line 2-81 between Torba Otogar and the town centre runs hourly through the night.
In practice, for a late landing:
- Book a transfer in advance, or arrange a pickup through your hotel.
- Otherwise take a taxi from the rank outside arrivals and agree on the rough fare first.
- If your flight is delayed, tell your transfer company; check what their waiting policy is.
